Wonacott and Action Square are back at it again! The South Korean developer reconnected with us to reveal the team’s first-ever gameplay trailer for Kingdom: The Blood, an action RPG based on the hit Netflix show “Kingdom.” With just two weeks before the trailer drop, we spearheaded North American PR efforts and turned the reveal into multi-day coverage from the biggest names in games media.
Based on the buzz from our initial PR efforts in August 2021, the trailer’s stunning visuals, and, of course, the attachment to a huge hit IP on Netflix, this trailer had a ton of potential. We immediately drafted a press release to highlight the trailer and share context for any newcomers to the game. After compiling key entertainment and gaming media targets, we began our extensive pre-pitching efforts to build up interest ahead of the trailer release.
We secured interest under embargo with key colossal North American publications including IGN, VentureBeat, GamesRadar+ and Screen Rant. Thanks to our “hit the ground running” mentality and a trailer that exceeded expectations, all the outlets we coordinated with early covered the trailer day-of. Our coverage with IGN was arguably a campaign highlight: not only did the outlet share the news on its massive Twitter account and Facebook page, but its YouTube upload garnered over 500,000 views – well above the channel’s average!
We got the news out on Monday, July 11 and coordinated with media throughout the week. In the end, we secured placements with top-tier geek, entertainment and gaming press including Comic Book Resources, GameSpot, PC Gamer, Polygon and many more.
Media clearly connected with the game’s brutal action and Netflix-related IP shown off in this blood-soaked trailer. We’re always stoked to work with Action Square and can’t wait to see where Kingdom: The Blood goes from here.
