Following our successful campaign for the launch of Tails of Iron, we quickly shifted focus to United Label’s award-winning adventure game Röki and its upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X|S launch. We knew just by looking at the stunning snowy landscapes that this point-and-click adventure would be jaw-dropping on PlayStation and Xbox. We also believed that, with some diligent research and creative pitching, Röki had the potential to recapture the interests of top-tier console and gaming media.
After collaborating once again with our friends at United Label, we began building a carefully researched media list of gaming, geek, console and entertainment outlets. We recognized that Röki stood out compared to the other violent action games releasing around the same time, so we targeted media who would appreciate a relaxing, beautiful puzzle game to play on a cozy autumn afternoon.
Our research efforts paid off as we also locked in launch date coverage with dozens of major gaming outlets, including IGN Polska, Game Rant, The Gamer, Game Spark, Eurogamer and Push Square. Following the announcement, we pitched media for reviews and secured interest from over 40 outlets, including Push Square, The Gamer and GameSpew.
Leading up to launch day, we continued to research and compile our wide media list, pre-pitch the news under embargo and follow up with media for reviews. Over the course of Röki’s debut weekend, we secured launch hits with IGN, The Gamer, The Xbox Hub and more.
From our review pitching efforts, several major gaming outlets reviewed the game including Sportskeeda, The Gamer, Push Square, PlayStation Lifestyle and The Xbox Hub. All the reviews gave the game an 8/10 or above score while applauding the game’s beautiful visuals, lovable characters and rich themes of family, courage and loss.
Throughout the campaign, we also coordinated interviews between co-director of Röki, Tom Jones and Xbox outlet True Achievements as well as Swedish news outlet TT News Agency. TT News Agency sent the interview far and wide, resulting in it being republished on nine notable Swedish outlets including MSN Nöje, Aftonbladet, Sydsvenskan, Göteborgs-Posten and Borås Tidning.
As our own PR adventure continues with United Label, we hope you will stay tuned to see where else our snowy road leads.
