Hope you brought your scuba gear because we’re about to dive right into how we supported the launch of DAVE THE DIVER on Steam Early Access earlier this year. This pixel aquatic adventure gained a great following, earning overwhelming positive reviews and a top seller on Steam! Our PR outreach made some serious waves as we secured top tier launch and preview coverage with gaming media and influencers.
We made our first plunge into DAVE THE DIVER back in August by announcing the early access launch and demo during Gamescom. We seeded awareness and interest in the demo with researched targets, looking for fans of hybrid style adventure-tycoon gameplay. As a result, our contacts loved the demo and wanted to check out the early access as soon as it was available.
As we reached closer to early-access launch in October, we pitched preview opportunities with selected gaming outlets and content creators. As a result, we secured coverage with key gaming media, such as The Gamer, PC Gamer, Rock Paper Shotgun and Destructoid. We also locked in a ton of enthusiastic influencer Let’s Plays including videos and streams from Drae, Raptor, Relyea and Cryptic Fox and more.
In the weeks after launch, we continued to support DAVE with our usual hands-on approach, providing media with plenty of game codes and assets. This helped secure a feature on The Besties Podcast hosted by Polygon Editor-in-Chief Chris Plante and Senior Editor Russ Frushtick. We also connected with GamesRadar+ for a preview that extended coverage into December, keeping DAVE and his friends in the forefront as we closed out the year.
