Last week, independent studio Kobojo decided to shake things up by announcing the unprecedented news that the company’s highly anticipated Japanese role-playing game (JRPG) title Zodiac: Orcanon Odyssey will be released as a premium mobile game – despite the fact that Kobojo has traditionally been a free-to-play gaming outfit. Repeat: a free-to-play (F2P) game company is changing its business model to premium games. This is huge news. How huge? The Wonacott team geared up to release the announcement…and here’s what happened.
With the upwardly-mobile mobile gaming company 4:33 Creative Lab joining the Wonacott fantasy roster, and with our announcement of the studio’s upcoming Blade: Redemption hitting it big in the mobile and gaming communities, you might say that our newfound partnership just took hold of the ball and hasn’t stopped running to the endzone – in this case, PAX Prime!
At Wonacott, we love games and even more than that, we love letting others know about great games. After we helped our client Versus Evil preview Toren at GDC, which saw some great coverage, we were stoked on helping the get the word out about the release of the dark-fantasy adventure and secure some great reviews and launch coverage.
As technology enthusiasts (and a few of us who are Shonda Rhimes fans), the Wonacott team loves it when we get to work with clients that are converging entertainment and technology in new ways. After helping our rad client Takehollywood rock its launch event in February for the new online platform for aspiring entertainment professionals, we were stoked to help them with their second event – a live panel featuring Latinos in Hollywood.
This week’s spotlight is on Digital Hollywood Spring, the premier entertainment and technology conference in the country. The conference started yesterday and runs through this Thursday at The Ritz Carlton Hotel in Marina del Rey, Calif. Our own PR Guy Jason Wonacott will be there for a session on VR and AR in gaming and beyond. Alongside industry gurus from LOOT Interactive, Digital Domain, and Greenlight VR, Jason will be moderating the panel, which is a part of the virtual and augmented reality summit. Our client, uSens (check out their Kickstarter!), represented by Dr. Yue Fei, the company’s CTO and creator of Impression Pi, will be headlining the panel.
We value all our communications, so we will get back to you at the earliest!
