This year Team Wonacott took to E3 wrangling media for VR hardware and games galore. With three major exhibitors spread over the South Hall, Concourse and West Hall, we were going several directions with exclusive demos, live shows, and sneak peeks galore. Nexon America went hands on with Boss Key’s heavily award nominated PC online shooter LawBreakers, Pico Interactive unveiled the Pico Neo VR Android standalone headset, and U&I Entertainment made a splash during its first E3 appearance with a portfolio of independent games.
Nexon America and Boss Key’s LawBreakers
LawBreakers swept media off of their feet this year at E3 – or was it the anti-gravity zones? Our exclusive meeting room offered the media we scheduled a chance to sit down during all the madness and delve deep into gameplay. We paired over a hundred different media outlets up in teams of five, then pinned them against each other in the kick-a** first-person shooter. There was laughing, cheering and taunting galore as the two teams (armed with futuristic guns, explosives, and jet packs) attacked one another to secure different points on the beautiful new map, inspired by the Santa Monica Promenade. As the week progressed, the LawBreakers wall filled up with more than a dozen awards and nominations from IGN, LazyGamer, GameRant, and more.
Pico Interactive
The self-contained Pico Neo VR Android-based headset made its debut at E3 last week and all of the editors that we met with were mind-blown as they left their hands-on demos, and stoked for its upcoming release later this year. With lines circling the booth for a chance at the interactive experience, the Pico Neo was a huge hit. The media was in awe of the lightweight design, highlighted by the battery, processor and memory being stored in the controller, and Android-based technology that transformed the world around them. During the three days of E3, we met with over 80 of our media friends – and secured two Best of E3 Awards in the technology categories (Toms Guide and Shacknews).
U&I Entertainment (Together with Sold Out and Rebellion)
Retail distributor U&I Entertainment has never been one to take the attention away from its developers. But they decided the time had come to present their upcoming portfolio to the industry – so they teamed up with veteran E3-er Rebellion and UK partner Sold Out to showcase their 2016 lineup. Keeping things low key and intimate, we set up demo stations in a Concourse meeting room and Rebellion had a room above the West Hall – as we hosted over 100 media and influencer for hands-on sessions with Sniper Elite 4, Carmaggedon: Max Damage, Worms W.M.D., Prison Architect, and OlliOlli: Epic Combo Edition. For additional grassroots awareness, Carmaggedon: Max Damage came to life with a tricked out car making laps around the convention center. Oh, and congrats to our friends at Rebellion for landing two “Best of E3 award nominations for Sniper Elite 4!
Happy clients. Amazing games and hardware. Coverage on coverage on coverage… Let’s call this a job well done. Wonacott out! (and time for some vacay…)
